​How are hunts booked?

Hunts at the Rockin G Ranch are booked year round. The hunt is considered book once the date(s) of the hunt are approved by the Rockin G and upon receipt of deposit. Deposit amounts are based upon type of hunt. Hunts are booked upon receipt of the 50% deposit. On P.O.R exotics hunts the deposit varies depending upon the animal.

Are deposits refundable?

As a general rule no, deposits are not refundable but will stay good for a period of 1 year from the time the hunt is booked. In the event some unforeseen circumstances happen on our end then the option of a full refund of the deposit or rescheduling the hunt will be at the clients discretion. If something comes up and your not able to make your hunt please contact us as soon as possible and we will work with you to the best of our abilities.

Do I have to have a hunting license?

Yes all hunts require a hunting license, for predators/varmints, hogs, and exotics a small game license is all that is needed. For deer, turkey, and wing shooting licenses,stamps, and tags are required. For further information on types of licenses required please see the Texas Parks and Wildlife’s (TPWD) website at www.tpwd.texas.gov. ​Where can I get a license?

Licenses need to be obtained prior to arrival at the ranch. The closest place to the ranch to get a license is approximately an hour away and will result in loss of hunting time if not obtained prior to arrival. Retailers such as Walmart, Academy, Gander Mountain, Cabela’s, Bass Pro Shops throughout the state typically sell licenses. They can be obtained on line through TPWD as well.

What type of hunting is allowed?

We cater to rifle, shotgun, handgun, muzzle loading, and archery hunters. All hunting methods must comply with all local, state, and federal laws.

What caliber is recommended?

For wild hog hunting, 243 is the minimum recommended caliber. Lighter calibers may be used but it can greatly reduce the odds of recovery should the animal not be hit well. 270 and up are preferred. Wild hogs are extremely tough and in certain situations can be dangerous. Calibers in the 270wsm to 300wm range are very effective. For exotic sheep and goats 223 is the minimum caliber with 243 and up being preferred.

Note: Every effort is made to put you in a good clean shooting situation. That being said, nothing will replace practice and familiarity with your weapons. If you are uncomfortable with the shot then let us know. Shot opportunities are a dime a dozen and it’s better to regroup and try again than to wound and not recover an animal. Be open and honest about your abilities with your guide. Animals wounded but not recovered will still be charged at regular trophy fees. If you draw blood then it is considered harvested and the trophy fee will need to be paid in full.​

When is the balance of the payment due?

The balance on the hunt must be paid before leaving the ranch, absolutely no exceptions. We do prosecute on hot checks!

What type of hunting methods may I do?

We cater our hunts to the individual hunter. It’s your hunt and we will do everything in our power to make it how you want it. We have quality blinds and feeders as well as the ability to spot and stalk in a ‘Safari Style” hunt. We can also hunt at night with those animals it is legal to do so.

Will I or my group be sharing the ranch with other clients?

No, we pride ourself on personalized service. When you book a hunt with us, whether you are an individual or group, you will have ranch and our staff to yourself.

Will I see a Game Warden?

Yes, there is a high likelihood of having the opportunity to meet the local Game Warden. He runs cattle on our ranch and is frequently around. He is a very nice man and will not interfere with your hunt, there is no need to be alarmed by his presence. He may however check licenses while there and our guide license is posted in open view in the lodge. We strictly abide by ALL laws. Should anyone violate a ranch rule, local, state, or federal law they will be immediately escorted off of the ranch and no refund given. Prosecution for breaking any law will be at the discretion of the Game Warden, ranch staff, or local law enforcement officer.
